Abstract

IMMIGRATION IN TURKEY AND SECURITY POLICIES OF IMMIGRANTS
Immigration ( asylum seeking) is an old adventure as the history of humanity. People have to leave their own countries by regarding and risking everything because some of them just want to have better living conditions and some of them are not happy with the political troubles in their countries at all. This tiring and deadly trip makes them to have huge problems as well as this trip causes the negative political and social effects in the country where they immigrate. Turkey has been one of the most affected countries by immigrants’ invasions recently. Actually receving the refugees with open arms is very old tradition of Turks; Ottoman Empire helped the Jews who escaped from Kingdom of Spain’s pressures which dates back to 15th century. Receiving approximately 4 millions of refugees who have escaped from their countries because of socio-economic problems and political repressions from South-East border’s neighbour of Turkey has based on the tradition of historical friendship and brotherhood. Turkey has made international aggrements for the refugees to shelter, to deploy, to find a job and to integrate them into social life. On the other hand, Turkey has to take a range of precautions in itself. Among these precautions, ‘security’ fronts as the most important factor. In this study, we are going to analyze the immigration policies of Turkey and the policies of immigrants’ security which has been applied for refugees.
