Abstract
THE SILENT LOSSES OF MIGRATION: CHILD SUICIDES
Suicide can be seen in society from those with severe mental disorders to ordinary people who react to stressful life events such as immigration. In the literature, it was found that immigrants carried more suicide attempts and thoughts than the local population. ccording to recent statistical data, the number of migrants is increasing all over the world. Increasing the number of migrants brings housing, nutrition, health and education problems. Children are one of the most affected groups of these problems. Among migrant children, mental health problems such as anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, somatic symptoms, depression and suicide stand out. As of 2017, there has been an increase in suicide reports against migrant children. This suggests that migrant children are a risky group in terms of suicidal thinking and behavior. This study aimed to draw attention to the suicide cases that have started to be seen in migrant children and to emphasize that preventive health measures should be taken in this regard.
