Abstract
ADVERTISEMENTS AS A CULTURE TRANSMISSION ON TEACHING TURKISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Learning a foreign language is not enough to learn the structure and grammar of that language. Apart from these, it is necessary to know the culture of the target language. Learning a foreign language also necessitates cultural rapprochement. Materials prepared for teaching Turkish to foreigners should also include cultural elements. Using audio visual materials facilitate the effective language learning. The advertisements are elements reflecting Turkish cultural, national and moral values. In this study Cola Turka and Isbank advertisements as a culture transmission on teaching Turkish as a foreign language has been investigated and 11 authentic activities has been developed on B1 level as; before listening/watching, during listening/watching and after listening/watching activities. The aim of these activities are to teach the language learners both the four main language skills and how to use cultural elements, mimics, pattern sentences in suitable contexts.
