Abstract
MOTIVES OF TOURISM STUDENTS FOR THE CHOISE OF GERMAN AS A SECOND FOREIGN LANGUAGE
The aim of this study was to determine which motives are decisive for the choice of the German in the elective course (second foreign language). To determine which motives are crucial were the respondents - students at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the University of Adiyaman (Adiyaman / Turkey) - asked to give their personal motives for choice. A total of 54 students participated, who has chosen German as elective course. The data were collected using a written survey with an open-ended question in the winter semester 2014/15. In the data analysis was used summarizing content analysis (one of the qualitative techniques). The results showed that the majority of students (52%) chose the German of ease of learning (as opposed to Arabic and Russian). Another 15% of respondents chose the German for professional purposes. And 33% of the students have chosen the German language from their inner motives such as desire, interest and love of German language and culture.
