Özet
Doğu Akdeniz, son dönemdeki yer altı hidrokarbon kaynakları keşfine paralel olarak, güncel uluslararası politika tartışmalarında yoğun bir gündem teşkil eder hale geldi. Gerek küresel gerekse bölgesel aktörler genelde Doğu Akdeniz’in özelde ise Kıbrıs’ın kendileri ve bölgesel ve uluslararası politika için önemini yeniden tanımladılar. Bununla eşgüdümlü olarak bu yeni önem atfetme sürecini anlamaya çalışan akademik çalışmaların sayısı da çokça arttı. Bu süreçte akademik anlamda göz ardı edile gelense Kıbrıs halkının, özellikle de Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti (KKTC) vatandaşlarının/kamuoyunun, güncel gelişmeler karşısında kendilerine, adaya ve ülkelerinin bölgesel ve küresel aktörlerle ilişkilerine atfettikleri anlamın ne olduğu, nasıl dönüştüğü oldu. Bu çalışma tam da bu eksikliğin giderilmesine katkı sunmak gayesiyle, Kuzey Kıbrıs halkının güncel gelişmeleri nasıl algıladığını ve bu gelişmelerden nasıl etkilendiğini anlamaya çalışmaktadır. Çalışma, bahse konu algıyı ve etkilenmeyi anlayabilmek amacıyla yerel halkla gerçekleştirilen 324 yüz yüze anketin ve uzman mülakatlarının bulguları üzerine bina edilmiştir.

Abstract
In line with the recent discovery of underground hydrocarbon resources, the Eastern Mediterranean has become an intense agenda in current international policy debates. Both global and regional actors have redefined the importance of the Eastern Mediterranean in general and Cyprus themselves, and for regional and international policy. In coordination with this, the number of academic studies that have tried to understand this new emphasis process has also increased a lot. Although this process was neglected academically, it was what the meaning of the people of Cyprus, especially the citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), attributed to them, the island and their countries' relations with regional and global actors in the face of current developments. This study tries to understand how the people of Northern Cyprus perceive the current developments and how they are affected by these developments in order to contribute to the elimination of this deficiency. The study is based on the responses of 324 face-to-face surveys and expert interviews to be able to read with the local population in order to understand the perception and influence.
