Abstract

REVISITING THE CONCEPT OF DECENT WORK: A COMPARISON OF TURKEY WITH OECD COUNTRIES
Since its founding in 1919, the ILO has sought to improve the situation of human beings in the world of work, and now entering into the 21st century the ILO set itself a new goal “Decent Work for All” (ILO, 1999). Decent work aims to promote and realise fundamental principles and rights at work, create greater opportunities for men and women to secure decent employment and income, enhance the coverage and effectiveness of social protection for all, and strengthen tripartism and social dialogue. In this paper the performance of Turkey in terms of decent work will be reevaluated by comparing it with the first study by Palaz (2005) in 2005 using 2016 data.

Keywords
Decent work, measurement of decent work, Turkey, OECD countries.
