Abstract


PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED BY TURKISH TEACHERS IN SPEAKING SKILLS IN DISTANCE EDUCATION
Speaking is a physical and mental process and enables the symbols and sounds used together to create meaning in the mind of the other person and turn them into messages. Speaking is the second most used basic language skill acquired among basic language skills. Speaking skill is of great importance in the individual's self-expression and communication. There are various problems encountered during conversation. It is possible to attribute these problems to different reasons. The aim of this study is to determine the problems encountered by Turkish teachers in distance education in speaking education and to contribute to the realization of speech education more effectively in the light of the findings. The sample of this study, in which qualitative research model is used, consists of 45 Turkish teachers working within the Ministry of Education. The obtained data were collected using the semi-structured interview technique. The data collected by the semi-structured interview technique were analyzed by descriptive and content analysis. The problems faced by Turkish teachers in distance education in the study; Inability to make eye contact with students, unwillingness of students, technical difficulties, inability to observe the gestures and gestures of students, inability to do group activities, time constraints, internet-related problems and extreme excitement of students.
