Abstract

WELFARE PARTY IN TERMS OF BIRTH THEORIES, PARTY TYPOLOGIES AND INSTITUTIONALIZATION APPROACH
The main purpose of this study is to make an evaluation on the institutionalization of the Welfare Party and the party structure with the help of the theories of the emergence of political parties, political party typologies and the institutionalization criteria of the parties, which are generally accepted in the field of political science. With which theories can the Welfare Party be addressed in the context of theories of birth? In which typology can it be evaluated in the classification of party typologies? What is the institutionalization level and development of the party in terms of theorizing criteria? Are the basic questions the study emphasizes. In solving these questions and evaluating the results, generally accepted genesis theories and party typologies of Maurice Duverger and the institutionalization criteria of Samuel P. Huntington were used. Before the evaluation of the results, firstly, the historical background of the Welfare Party and the history of the National Vision movement was mentioned due to the ideological basis of the party. Later, some information was given on the differences between the policies followed by the Welfare Party during the period it took part in Turkish political life and the policies followed by the National Vision parties that preceded it, and the emergence theories, party typologies and institutionalization criteria used in the evaluation phase were examined together with the Welfare Party. Findings arising from the evaluations made with the help of the criteria are presented in the conclusion part.
