Abstract
EDUCATION SYSTEM OF MALAYSIA: A COMPARISON WITH TURKEY IN TERMS OF PURPOSE, STRUCTURES AND PROCESSES
The aim of this article is to compare the Malaysian Education System with Turkish Education System. For this purpose, firstly, the administrative organization, school organization, the supervision of education, the financial sources of education and the teacher training processes of the Malaysian Education System are handled. In the last chapter of the study, the Malaysian Education System and the Turkish Education System are compared. As a result, the Malaysian and the Turkish educations systems aim to improve the quality of education and national unity. Both of the systems are centralist in structure. Education is administered by the Ministries of National Education. However, the Higher Education in Malaysia is administered by the Ministry of Higher Education. Concerning the period of education, the compulsory education in the Turkish Education System is 12 years while in Malaysia it is 11 years. In both systems, centralized national programmes are used. In general, there are a lot of similarities between the systems in terms of school organizations. However, it is found that in Malaysia vocational and technical education is given more importance.
