THE ACCURACY OF EMOTIONS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO THE INTER- MENTAL BOUNDARIES AMONG EDUCATIONAL COUNSELORS
The current research aims to identify the accuracy of emotions and
inter- mental boundaries among educational counselors, as well as
to identify the statistically significant differences in the accuracy of
emotions and inter-mental boundaries among educational
counselors according to the gender variable (male-female), and the
correlation between the accuracy of emotions and the inter-mental
boundaries of educational counselors. To achieve the aims of the
research, the researcher adopted the Emotions Accuracy Scale by
(Jolliffe & Farrington, 2006) after she arabized it on the Iraqi
environment, which consisted of (20) items, and the Inter-Mental
Boundaries Scale by (Hartmann, 1991) which was arabized on the
Iraqi environment by (Nawras Shaker Hadi Al-Abbas, 2012), which
consisted of (52) items, and she extracted the psychometric
properties from the validity and reliability of the two scales, and she
applied the two scales in their final form to the basic research sample
of (200) educational counselors, and she analyzed the data by using
the statistical package for social sciences (spss).
The results showed the following:
1-The educational counselors have the accuracy of emotions.
2- There are statistically significant differences between males and
females and in favor of females.
3- Counselors have thick mental boundaries.
4- There are statistically significant differences between males and
females in the inter-mental boundaries between the two and in favor
of males.
5- The relationship between the two variables is a direct, statistically
significant relationship, that is, the higher the accuracy of emotions,
the higher the inter-mental boundaries between them.
In light of the research results, the researcher developed a number
of recommendations and suggestions.
