Abstract

NEWS DISCOURSE: PRESENTATION OF NEWS REGARDING HEALTH SECTOR THE“ YOUR DAUGHTER IS DEAD” NEWS
Communication is a phenomenon that develops rapidly in today's world and provides interaction among people. Technology, like every other area, shows its presence in the field of communication. As described by McLuhan's definition, the world has become smaller and become a global village. Almost every sector adapts itself to this new situation, many sectors from the health sector to the media, have been influenced by globalization and started to use new communication technologies. Today, through the mass media, states, societies, groups, communities, media organizations are aiming to provide news flow in the framework of their own ideological rhetoric. Throughout the study, in which the media's own news discourse is addressed, it is aimed to examine an incident related to the health sector, by the “news discourse analysis”.On September 17, 2015, in the incident that occurred in Kılbasan village of Karaman, the last dialogue between the doctor and the patient was taken as "scandal" in the news headlines. The incident has found wide impact at the local and national level. The news texts related to the event were analyzed by Van Dijk's Critical News Discourse Analysis method by using the related news at www.gazetevatan.com, www.sondakika.com and www.ensonhaber.com.Critical Discourse Analysis is an approach that interprets the discourse on the ground. The news text, "Your daughter is dead!”, has been evaluated and interpreted by Van Dijk's method which is divided into micro and macro levels. According to the news text resolved by the means of Van Dijk's analysis, the existence of difficulties in communication in the health sector and the need for health personnel to have professional support for communication in health are drawn as conclusion.
