Abstract
AN INVESTIGATION OF SOCIAL MEDIA ADDICTION OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
The main aim of this research is to investigate social media addiction of university students. In line with this aim the comparisons were made between the levels of social media addictions of university students and their ages, sexes, daily usage time of social media, purpose of social media use and so on. The research was conducted as survey model and the data was collected from 1034 university students by using social media addiction scale consisting of 41 items and 4 factors (Occupation, Mood modification, Relapse and Conflict). The findings of the survey revealed that female students were more occupied with and received more emotional support from social media compared to male students. On the other hand male students found to be more conflicted with social media which shows that they were more negatively affected compared to females.
