Abstract
TEACHERS ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL PHYISCAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS LESSON
The aim of this study is to determine how High School Physical Education and Sports programs are performed. In this research, we have tried to determine the teachers’ comments on whether the opinions of the teachers about high school physical education and sports program are received, whether the information is given, teachers’ opinions about the program, its sufficiency with regards to students, which criteria the teachers should have and to determine the suggestions of the teachers. In the research, the data obtained from 60 teachers working at the high schools in the Gaziantep provincial borders have been examined with the content analysis method by using interview form which is one of the qualitative research methods. As a result, we have concluded that the opinions of the teachers are not received while physical education and sports lesson program is prepared and the information is not given to the teachers, and we have also inferred that the program is inadequate because of the problems occurring at the application stage. Besides, the teachers who have attended the study express their opinions intended for providing the tools and materials, meeting the physical conditions, increasing the course hours, making the course more productive, rearrangement of the program, increasing the activities, giving in-service training, supporting the school administration, family and successful players, and they finally state that these topics should be given particular importance.
