Abstract
ASSESMENT ABOUT THE RELIEF FEATURES OF THE MARMARA SEA COASTS BETWEEN ÇARDAK- BELKIS TOMBOLO
Coasts of the Marmara Sea have gained its essential appearance depending on isostatic and eustatic movements that took place in Quaternary. Due to the last sea level risings in the Flandrian, the coasts are generally overwhelmed coast types of coasts. Geomorphologic features of the land areas beyond the previous coast put forth the main outlook of the coast. Again depending on the current movements of tectonic activities, the mentioned coasts have obtained quite sinuous and asymmetric appearance. Today, people being in the first place, waves, flows and biotic factors continue shaping the coast. There have been various geographical formations in the control of these factors and processes. Lagoons, tombolo, abrasion platform and deltas are some of the main formations in low coasts. Geographical distributions of geographical formations which occur in the control of factors and processes stated in this work have been manifested by being described in this study. However, it was seen that this area, which is also important and very convenient for tourism, is filled with summer houses every passing day. For this reason, the different aspects of protection and use of coasts in this study should be considered within the scope of the coastal geomorphology.
