Abstract
EXAMINING CREATING OF MATHEMATICAL MODELLING ACTIVITY OF TEACHERS OF SECONDARY MATHEMATICS
In this study, it is aimed to investigate the design period of mathematical prototype activities, which are created and solved by secondary school mathematics teachers. The created activities are investigated in accordance with the reality, creating models, self-assessment, building certification, generalizations of the model and principle of effective prototype, that are indicated in the literature. In four weeks, a total of 12 hours (3 hours per week) of mathematical prototype trainings are given to 14 school mathematics teachers, who attended to the project voluntarily; and at the end of the study, each teacher is requested to create a mathematical prototype activity. Implementation of the case study method as a result of this study, teachers' overall performance was determined according to the principles set forth. In particular, "Building certification" and "Model generalization" in principle this is clearly noticeable. In this respect, this process will be applied to teachers a more long-term project, workshops and in-service seminars given to explain the nature of mathematical modeling is recommended.
