Abstract
INVESTIGATION OF THE SECONDARY GESTURES AND FACIAL EXPRESSIONS PERFORMED BY THE INDIVIDUALS IN COMMUNICATION
Communication is a process, occurs verbally or nonverbally, that is composed of two mainly dimensions; speaking and listening. In this study, the secondary gestures and facial expressions, which are body language movements forming the non-verbal communication, were investigated through grouping in terms of speakers and listeners; meanwhile, the seen moments and causes of these movements were also discussed. The secondary gestures and facial expressions are the movements that contribute to the communication indirectly, which are exhibited involuntary and unconsciously. It is important to discuss these movements by addressing them to each speaker and listener. Since the listener is in a passive and the speaker is in an active position during a communication period, the moves may differ in terms of the meaning and the type of the movement. This study is important in terms of interpreting the feelings, excitements and thoughts of the people correctly. It is aimed to fill the gap in the literature for this subject by investigating and explaining thirty-five different gestures as sub-headings from eight gestures and facial expressions. In conclusion, various comments, suggestions, descriptions and ratings have been reached.
