Abstract
A RESEARCH ON THE PROFESSIONAL PROBLEMS OF PRIVATE SECURITY OFFICERS IN TURKEY: THE ÇOMÜ EXAMPLE
While the physiological needs (nourishment, shelter) of people living in communities have been the priority since the ancient times, the need for security has come to the fore after these needs were met. The reason for the emergence of this need is the dangers and threats seen in the community environment and the diversification and increase in quantity and quality of these dangers and threats. Security is one of the most basic needs of people. A large part of this need is provided by the state through law enforcement forces. Private security services are also increasingly gaining importance in ensuring the security of societies. Private security services operate in order to assist law enforcement forces and reduce workload. The study titled “A Research on the Professional Problems of Private Security Officers in Turkey: ÇOMÜ Example” examines the quality of the service provided and the problems related to the relevant profession along with the increase in the number of private security sector and service providers. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the professional problems of private security officers by conducting interviews with personnel responsible for private security services at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University and to support the development of the private security profession. For this purpose, an application was made for private security services operating at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. In the relevant study; the training processes, duties, authorities and responsibilities of private security officers and the professional problems they encounter were examined. The data obtained from the field using the descriptive research method was analyzed in the Maxqda program.
