Abstract
EFFECTIVE INTERVENTION METHODS FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE FIRES WITH MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDATIONS
This article focuses on the fire risks associated with the increasing prevalence of electric vehicles and the fire suppression methods recommended by manufacturers to address these risks. Lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles pose fire hazards different from those in internal combustion engine vehicles, due to high-voltage systems and dangerous processes such as thermal runaway. Manufacturers recommend using large amounts of water to extinguish such fires and conducting thermal monitoring after the fire. It is mandatory for response teams to receive specialized training and use personal protective equipment to protect themselves from high-voltage components. This article provides detailed information on the post-fire safety measures recommended by manufacturers, battery cooling processes, and fire response strategies, addressing how these risks can be managed effectively.
