Abstract
DETERMINING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ACADEMIC PERSEVERANCE LEVELS AND NOMOPHOBIA LEVELS OF HİGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
High school education is of great importance in their educational lives in terms of students starting and implementing road maps for their future. Their efforts to achieve academic success and the sustainability of this effort despite the obstacles can be briefly called academic perseverance. There are many factors that affect the academic perseverance levels of high school students. Smartphones, which have become widespread in recent years, have become a tool for people to spend a lot of time in their lives. Nomophobia, also known as fear of being deprived of the smartphone, is seen as one of the psychological diseases of the digital age. This research, which was conducted to determine whether there is a relationship between academic perseverance levels and nomophobia levels of high school students, was carried out in a questionnaire-based relational screening pattern, a quantitative model. The universe of the research constitutes high school students who study 2022-2023 education-teaching in Sinanpaşa district of Afyonkarahisar province. The sample of the research constitutes 334 students selected from the universe by sampling method. Personal Information Form, Academic Perseverance Scale and Nomophobia Scale were used as data collection tools in the research. Research findings were reached by collecting data in the internet environment by applying percent, standard deviation, t test, ANOVA test and Pearson Moments Multiplication analysis. According to the research findings, it was concluded that the academic perseverance levels of high school students were “ high ” and nomophobia levels were “orta”. In addition, it has been concluded that the academic levels of high school students differ according to their gender and class repetition; It has been concluded that nomophobia levels differ according to gender, school type and class repetition. Finally, it was concluded that there is a negatively high relationship between academic perseverance levels and nomophobia levels of high school students. Based on the research results, various suggestions have been made for research and practices in this regard.
