Abstract


A REVIEW OF WRITING METHODS IN SECONDARY SCHOOL TURKISH TEXTBOOKS
The aim of this research is to determine the writing methods that come to the fore in the writing activities in the Turkish textbooks used in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades of secondary schools in the 2021-2022 academic year. In this study, in which the document analysis method was used, the writing activities in the secondary school Turkish textbooks created the documents examined. The research focused on writing activities in secondary school Turkish textbooks through criterion sampling method. While collecting data on writing methods, a ranking was applied as "the relevant theme, the titles of the texts in that theme, the writing method and the activity developed for this writing method". According to this order, the collected data were processed, classified and analyzed by content analysis. Among the examined secondary school Turkish textbooks, the 6th grade (f= 45) book ranks first in terms of the number of activities for writing skills, followed by the 5th grade (f= 38) , 7th grade (f= 35) and 8th grade (f= 35) textbooks, respectively. f= 33) follows. As a result of the research, it was determined that guided writing and summarizing methods were the most prominent methods in the writing activities of textbooks at all grade levels, respectively. It was determined that the methods of note-taking, filling in the blanks, free writing, controlled writing, creative writing, and reconstructing a text with their own words were not included in the writing activities.
