Abstract


DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGE OF THE POPULATION OF BULGARIA AND THE FUTURE PROJECTION (2025-2050)
SUMMARY The Republic of Bulgaria is located at the crossroads between Asia and Europe, and has been a place where different languages, religions and cultures are blended. The fact that Bulgaria has fertile lands has an important effect on its being preferred as a settlement in the process from ancient times to the present. The Republic of Bulgaria, a Balkan and Black Sea country, the number of studies on this country, which is important in terms of Turkey's geopolitics, is very few. When the population structure of the country is evaluated, it has been encountered that the birth and death rates are low and the elderly population ratio is increasing and it is similar to the demographic structure of developed countries.In this study; The demographic changes of the country from past to present were examined, and evaluations were made about the future 2025 and 2050 population projections by using Eurostat and National Statistical Institute (NSIB) data. It is obvious that the decrease in the active population of Bulgaria, which was determined to be the country with the fastest decline in the world in the study, will have a significant social and economic impact. The population change of the country, which is the focal point of the study area, was created with statistical data sets, and in the next stage, it was made appropriate with tables and graphs for a clearer interpretation of the data. The map showing the population distribution of Bulgaria was prepared using Geographic Information Systems programs.When the 2025 and 2050 population projections of the Bulgarian population are evaluated, it is observed that the total population will gradually decrease in the mentioned years, the proportion of the elderly population in the total population will increase and the active population will decrease.
