Abstract
MEHMET KAPLAN’S THROUGHTS ABOUT THE TURKISH VILLAGER
In this study, the view of Mehmet Kaplan as a Turkish intellectual to Anatolia and the Anatolian villagers was taken into consideration from his writings. The Turkish People have overcome many difficulties from past to present as a determined nation depending on their culture and traditions. The ability, vitality, commitment to life and culture of villager people where live in Anatolia have attracted Mehmet Kaplan and he thought all Turkish intellectuals should come up with an idea on this subject. Kaplan has seen that, although Turkish Villagers have not high education they have made various machine tools by evaluating their opportunities with skill and determination. In Kaplan's work, it is a subject which is emphasized that if opportunities granted to peasents ,and suitable conditions are met by the government progress will be achieved by the peasants not only in agriculture but also in industry. Kaplan stated in many of his articles that Turkish intellectuals should protect Anatolian people\ peasants this protection also comes to the meaning of protecting our culture, our values and our lands upon which we have been living for thousands of years.
