Abstract
INVESTIGATION OF INDEPENDENT AUDIT COMPANIES: A RESEARCH IN BORSA ISTANBUL
Independent audit is the audit of financial reports by applying independent audit techniques on records and documents by obtaining sufficient and appropriate independent audit evidence to provide reasonable assurance that the compliance and accuracy of financial reports to Financial Reporting Standards and the valuation of these reports are reported. The Board of Ministers determines the companies subject to independent audit, and the Public Oversight, Accounting and Auditing Standards Authority performs the control of the independent audits.
Turkey Financial Reporting Standards of Financial Statements (IFRS) is not suitable to be edited according to Independent Auditing Standards (BDS) is examined by independent auditors and audit firms are undertaking a very important task.
The purpose of this study is to examine the audit firms that undertake this important task. For this purpose, audit firms conducting audits of 514 companies listed on the Borsa Istanbul (BIST) companies in the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) were discussed. As a result of this study, 289 companies are audited by PWC Independent Audit, Southern Independent Audit (Ernst & Young), KPMG Independent Audit and DRT Independent Audit (Deloitte). 8 of 514 companies do not have the name of the audit firm. The remaining 217 companies are audited by 60 audit firms.
