Özet
This study dealt with the reflection of urban growth and its impact on the volume of domestic solid waste generated in the city of Qurna, and through the study of population growth that reached 4.7% between 2009-2020, as well as the lack of human cadres represented by cleaning workers and the inability of waste collection and transportation mechanisms, the problem of accumulation of waste appeared, The study aimed to uncover the size of this problem and its negative effects on the city’s population, and the necessary methods to address it. The study adopted the descriptive approach and the analytical approach. (0.03) to cover the research community study, The study found the most important results that the daily waste transported from residential neighbourhoods amounted to (115,352 kg / day / residential neighbourhood), while the amount of waste disposed and estimated (163492 kg / day / residential neighbourhood), meaning there are approximately (48,140 kg / day) of waste is not removed from the city since 2020, which leads to the accumulation of waste daily and makes it an environment for the collection of insects, rodents and unpleasant odours that affect the health of the city's residents, as well as distort the aesthetic of the city.
