Abstract

AN EXAMINATION ON SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE IN HISTORICAL TURKISH DIALECTS AND TURKEY TURKISH
In this study, the use of the present tense suffixes in the historic Turkish dialects and Turkey Turkish was discussed. Used as the present tense suffix, the suffixes of -r, -Ar, -Ir and - Ur not only correspond to the present tense, but also correspond to other modals through semantic shift. This is emphasized; the usage of the suffixes of -r, -Ar, -Ir and - Ur as derivational affixes were explained through examples. In addition, when the verb "tur-" is used together with the suffix of -ur, it is seen that it is functional in the formation of other tenses instead of present time: that the structure of -gU turur is used in the formation of the future tense in Karahanlı Turkish; that the structure of -A/-U turur is used as the suffix of present progressive tense in Khwarezm Turkish; that the structure of -p, -Ip, -Up turur corresponds , although used rarely, to learned past tense and experienced past tense; that the structure of -GU turur is used as the suffix of future tense; that the structure of -p, -Ip, -Up turur/-ptur corresponds to learned past tense in Kipchak Turkish; that the structure of A/ -y turur/ -A/-y dIr
