Abstract
THE EXAMINATION OF PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENTS WHICH ARE USED IN TURKEY ACCORDING TO THE MODELS IN DEVELOPED COUNTRİES
The factors like technological developments, urbanisation and extensive usage of social network have been promoting the children to sedentary life, and then they are exposed to many health problems. So, the importance of game and playgrounds have been increasing much more. However, as the concretion in today’s world has became widespread, the playgrounds have been decreasing and disappearing. In this study, the situation of playgrounds in Turkey was examined and they were compared to the international playgrounds and equipment diversity. The present conditions of playgrounds and equipment were analysed by synthesising the studies on playgrounds on national and international fields. As a result, it occurred that we remained behind many countries with regard to the design of playgrounds, equipment diversity and present state. It was determined that while playgrounds were created, there were important deficiencies at designing and practice stages. The playgrounds in our country have been designed by ignoring the developmental size of children and their expectations, and so this has caused the one-way development of our children.
