Abstract


THE EFFECT OF SYSTEM THINKING APPROACH ON THE ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS OF PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN
The aim of this research is to reveal the effects of the system thinking approach to build up consciousness about environment of the pre school children between 48-60 months old. In the research, quasi experimental design, pretest, posttest control group design is used. Study Group is 2 classes( 48-60 months old chidren) of an independent kindergarden in Urla Town of İzmir Province. Control and research groups are designated by equal probability of selection method (random). In the control group (n:15) conventional techniques and in the research group (n:15) system thinking tools are used. Before and after the 4 week process, with the help of the surveys and semi-structured interviews, which are prepared according purpose and learning outcomes of the e2013 pre-school environment education, students’ perception and precision are recorded and the first and the last interviews are evaluated.After the process with the systems thinking, there was a meaningful difference in favour of the research group. According to the results of the study, using different methods to have more environment consciousness in the preschool education, and designing an environment syllabus in every stage of the education system beginning from pre-school are suggested
