Abstract


ROLE OF THE TURKISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEXTBOOKS WRITTEN BY THE RUSSIANS IN TURKISH LANGUAGE TEACHING
Language is one of the primary cultural values of a nation and therefore the developed countries cannot leave the teaching of their state language to chance. The studies about teaching Turkish and researching the Turkish language as a science have been made by the domestic and national Turkologists recently, and by the foreign Turkologists for the period of 100 and 150 years previously. This study focuses on the research on teaching Turkish as a foreign language textbooks written by the Russian writers. In the study, some of the materials written by the Russian in teaching Turkish as a foreign language context, will be analyzed. This study adresses the texbooks on teaching Turkey Turkish written by the Russians for the Russian speakers in their territory, examining the topics in, investigating how they dealt with the methods and approaches, and in which language and culture policy influences these materials. The general information about the writer and the material, topics, includings, introduction, preface , data on grammer in the textbooks analyzed by the content analysis method. The textbooks analyzed in the study are grammer textbooks rather than the coursebooks. Therefore grammer translation method is a general systematic grammer teaching methodology in the books. The fonology, morfology and syntax of Turkish is presented by different writers in a different approach. Some of the textbooks includings the sections about the writers own teories and discoveries about Turkish grammer and some sections on language exercises. The texbooks have been prepared within the period of Turkish Republic SSSR and Russian Federation. The studies in Russian Federation on teaching Turkish as a foreign language need to be analyzed within the bi-lateral relations between Turkey and Russia. On the other hand, the studies in the field of Turkology must consider the Russian-Turkish and Turkish-Russian political relations. The political relations between the two nations appeared historicaly as Ottoman Empire - Russian Tsarism in the beginning of XX century, Turkish Republic - USSR after the 1920s, and the Turkish Republic and Russian Fedaration after the year 1991. In the study, the effects of these political relations in terms of changing states policies, national and international policies, political events, economic and socio-cultural interaction between the two nations, in teaching Turkish as a foreign language coursebooks are analyzed.
