Abstract


EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CYCLE 2 TEACHERS PREPARATION FOR BASIC EDUCATION IN ARABIC LANGUAGE
There are many problems that confront Arabic language teachers after graduating from the Colleges of Education or Teachers Colleges. These problems are attributed to the preparation, the school environment. This study focused on these problems as well as the consistency between what the teacher were taught in the college and what s/he teaches in the school to identify the problems that face the teachers to achieve the objectives of her/his lesson; as well as her/his relationship with colleagues in work and efficiency in classroom management. This study included 57 teachers and graduates of the Bahrain Teachers College from 2012 to 2016. A questionnaire was used as the main tool for collecting data. The questionnaire consisted of seven domains and 55 items. This research used an analytical descriptive approach. The research listed the most important teaching competencies that should be characterized by the Arabic language teacher based on the most important international practices used in teaching the Arabic language. The results revealed that the graduates of Bahrain Teachers College have the skills and competencies required for effective teaching within the classroom, and are equipped with different teaching methods. The results also indicated that graduates of the this college also have the ability to manage the classroom. Nevertheless, the content of the college materials needs to be reviewed to enable graduates to effectively teach the Arabic language courses in the Bahrain's schools, as well as to review the Arabic language books in terms of the activities, their relation to the practical life and the revision of spelling mistakes. The school environment seems to help teachers in terms of dealing and problem solving.
