Abstract
AN ANALYSIS OF THE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ ATTITUDES TOWARDS SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
This research aims to explore the attitude levels of the economic and administrative sciences faculty students towards scientific research and to make evaluations about the variables affecting their attitudes towards scientific researches. The research sample includes 359 students who study in Business Administration, Economics and Public Administration departments at Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University during the spring term of 2015 and 2016 academic year. The research has employed two data collection tools. “Personal Information Form” developed by the researcher and “Scale of Attitude towards Scientific Research" developed by Korkmaz et al. (2011a). Being a 5-point-likert-type, the tool consists of 30 items and 4 factors (Reluctance to Help Researchers, Negative Attitudes towards Research, Positive Attitudes towards Research and Positive Attitudes towards Researchers).The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficients of the factors range between 0,851 and 0,765. In the present study, the Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficients vary across 0,878 and 0,765. Frequency, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and independent samples t-test have been used during data analysis. Research results have shown that students' attitudes towards scientific researchdiffer acrossvarious independent variables. Students' general attitudes towards scientific researchhave been identified to be at the medium level.
