Abstract


THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FAVOURITISM BY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS AND TEACHERS’ ORGANIZATIONAL TRUST PERCEPTIONS
The study attempts to compare the levels of favouritism with those of trust in schools in primary school teachers’ views. The research employs the survey model and has been conducted with state primary school teachers in the centre of Erzurum province, a city in Eastern Turkey. The research sample consists of a total of 174 teachers from 15 state primary schools in the city centre of Erzurum. The research data have been collected by the “Organizational Trust Scale for Schools” (OTSS) and the “Favouritism in School Administration Scale”. Arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation and Multiple Linear Regression are incorporatedly used for the analysis of the research data. According to the participant teachers’ views, the following has been concluded: the organizational trust levels of the participant primary school teachers are high, whereas the favouritism levels of the school administrators are low, there is a moderate, negative statistically significant correlation between the organizational trust levels of the participant primary school teachers and the favouritism levels of the school administrators and finally favouritism behaviours of the school administrators are significant predictors of the teachers’ organizational trust perceptions.
