Abstract
RESTORATION STATUS OF IMMOVABLE CULTURAL ASSETS AND USE AFTER RESTORATION
The protection of tangible and intangible cultural assets has been important since the past years. Although some immovable cultural assets were carefully worked on during the restoration works, most of them remained idle as a result of wrong restoration decisions, wrong restoration practices, not selecting the correct function and not performing restoration, or they became idle again over time because they were abandoned despite restoration works. Although the cost of restoration works is high, the fact that the buildings become idle again harms both the national economy and cultural assets. In this study, the damages of immovable cultural assets as a result of wrong restoration decisions and applications and the damages they cause to the country's economy have been researched and the importance of the process of making restoration decisions is emphasized. The structures for which a restoration decision has been taken or should be taken due to the inability or non-functioning have been identified, examined and evaluated through internet news sources. One building from each of the different categories of buildings has been selected from among the examined buildings. The conditions of the buildings before and after restoration were examined. As a result of the examinations, a model proposal was tried to be formed.
